Shelton Arts Commission DeadlineArts Commission member, Glenhelen Smithers is reminding our members that January 30 is the deadline for registering for the March-May display space at the Civic center. Applications are available at the Arts Commission Office at the Civic Center. Groups may apply as one and individuals may apply to display as many or as few pieces as they wish, as the commission displays more than one person’s work to fill the space. Advance applications are accepted if you want to display at a later date. All displays are for a 3 month period. SUNDAY MEETING A SUCCESSOur first Sunday meeting was attended by 29 members and guests. Rachel Hartman gave a very inspirational and interesting presentation on Using Textiles in Collage. She gave us information about coloring the textiles, sources of inspiration for developing a piece, putting together the work and sources of findings to enhance the basic textiles. It was particularly interesting to know that glue is never used to bind the pieces. Everything is carefully stitched together with thread. Dyes used were often watercolor and acrylics, and a variety of techniques were used to produce color patterns. Thanks Rachel for a great program.
