NEXT GENERAL MEETING Tues, May 13, 6:30 pm at PUD #3 Shelton

Program : Member Photo Show

PUT YOUR PHOTOS ON A CD AND BRING TO OUR MEETING TO SHARE.
Becky has arranged to have a digital projector for our meeting on May 13. We did not have time to get your submissions for a neat photo show presentation so we are asking you to put no more than 10 of your best, favorite or unusual photos on a CD and we can view each member’s CD. Those who went on our Nature Photo Walks will be sharing theirs and will talk about why they made the shots. Your photos may be nature, portrait, or whatever you want to share. Maybe you have used some for paintings, or elements that helped to make a piece of art. If you just have prints, they can be scanned and then burned on a CD. For more information call Becky at 426-1842.

SHARLYN RUSSELL GIVES TIPS ON ACRYLICS

Sharlyn Russell was the speaker at the April 9th meeting and those attending came away with some great information and inspiration. Ms. Russell demonstrated the use of various techniques and showed the audience how the different qualities of acrylics behaved. She expressed the need to match the brand and quality of the paint to the project at hand. A classic fine art piece should be done with a high quality acrylic with a tested permanence, whereas a purely decorative piece can be done with a less expensive product. She also gave tips on using some of the heavier impasto acrylics to create highly textured works and collage.

WEB SITE NEARING COMPLETION

Janel S., our newest Board member, is making excellent progress with our website. She will be presenting what she has come up with for your approval at this meeting. She will then complete the design and get it running. She has already registered our domain name PENINSULA ART ASSOCIATION, and selected Blue Host as our site host with the approval of the board. The board decided to start simply, with a main page, information about our organization, how to join/contact us, and the monthly newsletter, links to other art leagues in the area and possibly a forum area. In the future we may be able to take entries to our shows and include a Member’s Gallery, and post work that members submit for public viewing as well as links to members’ personal web sites. If you are interested in having your work in our gallery or a link to your personal web site, you can contact Janel at janelwashere@gmail.com.
