GENERAL MEETING
Tues, October 14, 6:30pm
Featuring Andrew Beelik
On Art in Hungary
Andrew Beelik was born in Hungary. Raised in the Danube Basin, Chechoslovakia, Hungary and Austria, he received his schooling up to a BS from Hungarian schools. He fled Hungary in 1948, landed in Canada in 1949 as a refugee immigrant.
There he earned two more academic degrees and married a Canadian girl. In 1955 they came to
Shelton, where he worked in Rayonier’s Olympic Research Division until his retirement in 1983. He has been happily and actively retired ever since.
He will bring us a sampling of several fields of artistic creation in Hungary in a slide presentation. This will include: Folk art in costumes and embroidery, painted and carved decoration in homes and village churches, as well as “schooled art”: statues of Budapest, Art Nouveau architecture and stained glass, work of renowned ceramic artist Margit Kovacs, modern architecture inspired by the yurts of nomadic Hungarians, medieval carved and painted altars in N. Hungary, frescos in the Coronation Church in Buda.
YOUR INPUT BADLY NEEDED
Do you know of someone who would be a speaker or demonstrator of interest to artists? Let us know. Bring their name and contact info to the next meeting, or call Becky at 426-1842 or e-mail at BIVALVES@earthlink.net
BE “GREEN”, USE OUR WEBSITE
Check out our new website. To get there, go to Google Web search and type in www.peninsulaartassociation.com.
Those people who want to be “green”, may want to get the newsletter on line rather than on paper. From now on, the newsletter will be published on the website. Remember that you can show your work there too. If you have your own website you may want a link, and that will be possible. Contact Janel at janelwashere@gmail.com.

MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO HELPED AT OYSTERFEST
To all those who worked in the Pie and Ice Cream booth, our most sincere thanks. With so many stepping up to take shifts, the work was efficient and Jora and Sharon actually got out of the booth for breaks. You did a great job! Rhonda and Getha would also like to thank those who spent time helping out in the Art And Photography building. “ We would not have had breaks had the PAA members not been so willing to help out.” they said. PAA members you are really appreciated.

MEMBERS ONLY SHOW POSTPONED!!!
The Members Only Show planned for October has had to be postponed to a later date, due to the winter closing of the Library on Sundays, the Library having their carpet cleaned on Saturday, Oct. 10 and the Columbus day Holiday falling on Monday Oct, 12.
