Edwards Presents Sculpture and Inspirational Video.
On Sunday afternoon, February 8, our speaker, David Edwards, displayed his work, carved stone, and spoke of the different techniques required for the various types of stone. He explained how he let the stone’s shape and grain decide what he would make of it. He showed us how some sculptors blocked the stone to begin the process of removing material, but said that he usually let the stone dictate his removal of the chips. He also showed us a video of a Native American Sculptor who was blinded during the Vietnam War. His attitude and skill was truly inspirational.
Before the program several members participated in Show and Tell and the Spring show was discussed. Getha made a call for people to sign up for helping with the show. Future programs were also discussed. Becky asked that everyone that knew of someone that would make an interesting speaker to let her know.
